The Hellweg LE GEAR Hood-Loc holster is one of the world’s safest General Duties, Front-line Policing and Law Enforcement holster for the Glock 17 & 22 model handgun.

Designed and manufactured by Hellweg Australia its purpose is to provide the maximum level of safety and security to the wearer and the general public without compromising the speed to draw and the accuracy of engaging the weapon on target.

The Hood-Loc provides both a mechanically secure and highly visible deterrent from intentional gun grabs or un-intentional de-holstering of the weapon. 5 distinct and separate actions are required to function the Hood-Loc and draw the weapon, we will refer to it as a Level 4 retention holster.

It is currently available in right-or left-hand variants to suit the Glock model 17 and 22 handgun and can be supplied for duty belt wear or in optional upper thigh rig platform as offered in this sale.

Operation Function

Action 1. Is a passive device that guards the primary actions from intentional or unintentional access which can be removed if required by the department.

Action 2. Occurs intuitively as the thumb moves toward the weapon as the grip is initiated.

Action 3. Occurs as the thumb moves down during the grip of the weapon.

Action 4. Occurs as the thumb moves rearwards as the full and tactile grip on the weapon is completed which is achieved without the need to regrip or adjust.

Action 5. Occurs as the weapon is drawn from the holster.

The weapon can be re-holstered and secured to all 5 Actions by returning the Action 1.

Alternatively, it can be re-holstered and secured to 4 Actions whilst maintaining full grip of the weapon and utilising the middle finger return spur.

We propose the Hood-Loc be worn during general activity with Action 1 engaged; should the wearer consider a heightened awareness then it is simply moved forward as the hand is placed on the weapon in Make Readiness.

Action 1 is easily reinstated to guard the primaries.

Client control testing and evaluations have demonstrated that with Action 1 Made Ready that during most instances of a targeted gun grab or unintentional prying hands and fingers during engagement that such actions in fact actually engage the Action and make safe and secure the primary actions.

The Hood-Loc is simply and easily defended by applying the side of hand over the Actions or the hood. The Hood-Loc prevents being pulled or peeled forward and the entire system has been environmentally tested to the highest levels of operational requirements.
